UPDATE July 3, 2016 – The new bridge is in place and open! Here are some photos of progress over the past few weeks. Kudos to the Westridge HOA for completing this trail repair project, which makes the trail useable again after a lengthy closure.
A bridge that washed out several years ago on one of the trails in the Westridge community, crossing Airport Creek, is being replaced! Work is underway to build a new bridge at the site, shown on the map below. The new bridge (an iron truss bridge about 20 feet long) is on-site pending installation. This is great news for the pedestrians and bicyclists who have been crossing the stream on stepping stones in recent years.

The old bridge (or crossing) was a blacktop path over two culverts in the stream. Erosion undermined it and the blacktop crumbled. The culverts were removed. Here’s a picture of the site from July 2019, after the bridge had been closed.

Update: as of May 18, 2026 the new concrete bridge abutments are in place:
