DESCRIPTION:Volunteers Needed to Clean Occoquan River – The water supply for most of Eastern Prince William & Fairfax Counties   \nOn Saturday\, September 24\, 2022 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. (rain date October 1\, 2022)\, Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition (PWTSC)\, a 501(c)3 organization\, is conducting its 13th annual clean-up of the upper Occoquan River\, from nine different sites along 25+ miles of the Occoquan River. DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are needed for a trash cleanup at the Neabsco Boardwalk on Saturday morning\, November 13\, 2021. DESCRIPTION:Bring your boat\, come out and join us for a canoeing and kayaking trip on Bull Run on Saturday\, October 19\, starting at 9:30 am. \nWe’ll start at the stream access point at the Stone Bridge parking lot in Manassas National Battlefield Park\, off of Lee Highway (Rt 29). \nExit point will be the Bull Run-Occoquan Trail parking area at Rt 28\, on the Fairfax County side of Bull Run. \nDistance is about 5.75 miles\, and the paddling trip will probably take about three hours. There is a current in this part of Bull Run\, so paddling is current-assisted.  There are some shallow areas where\, depending on water level\, you may scrape the bottom of your boat or even have to get out and pull the boat a short distance. \nPlease register HERE  \nContact secretary@pwtsc.org if you have questions.

DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for the 10th annual PWTSC clean-up of the upper Occoquan River. \nTo participate on the water using canoe\, kayak\, or jon boat\, click here \nTo participate at a cleanup site on land\, click here \nOn Saturday\, April 20\, 2019 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. (rain date April 27\, 2019)\, Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition (PWTSC)\, a 501(c)3 organization\, is conducting its 10th annual clean-up of the upper Occoquan River\, from nine different sites along 25+ miles of the Occoquan River. The clean-up ranges from Cedar Run/Broad Run\, through Lake Jackson\, and from the base of Lake Jackson Dam to Hooes Run (south of Lake Ridge Marina). This cleanup is part of the Alice Ferguson Foundation’s Potomac River Watershed Cleanup. \nPWTSC is partnering with the Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District\, Prince William County Parks and Recreation\, Prince William County Public Works\, and a number of  home owners associations\, civic associations\, businesses\, and volunteer groups to accomplish this major 25+-mile river clean-up. \nVolunteers with canoes\, kayaks or jon boats are especially needed to help with the annual cleanup on the water. \n

SUMMARY:Trash cleanup - Jefferson Park\, Veteran's Park & Marumsco Creek  – Nov 17\, 2018
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, November 17\, 2018\, we’ll partner with the PWC Parks & Recreation Department\, PWC Dept of Public Works\, and the PW Soil & Water Conservation District on a trash cleanup in the Woodbridge district.  We’ll focus on  Marumsco Creek\, where it flows through Jefferson Park and Veteran’s Park.  The cleanup will be part of a larger public outreach event on Plastics Pollution Prevention and Cleanup\, with educational exhibits setup at Veterans Park. \nVETERAN’S PARK CLEANUP:  There will be cleanup opportunities throughout Veteran’s Park\, both in the developed area and in Marumsco creek and its wetlands.  If you plan to participate in the Marumsco Creek and wetlands cleanup\, be prepared for wet and muddy conditions.  Click here to register for the Veteran’s Park cleanup.  Volunteers will gather inside the park near the recreation center\, and the pavilion across the street. \nVeterans Memorial Park\n14300 Veterans Drive\nWoodbridge\, VA 22191 \nJEFFERSON PARK CLEANUP:  Jefferson Park is an undeveloped PW County park\, with limited access at this time.  For the cleanup\, volunteers will gather at the Jefferson Plaza parking area\, off of Route 1 in Woodbridge.  It is a 7-acre wooded parcel which includes a segment of Marumsco Creek.  The street address is 13729 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY\, WOODBRIDGE\, VA 22191\, and the meeting location for the cleanup is shown on the map below.  Click here to register for the cleanup in Jefferson Park. \n \n \n
