SUMMARY:Conway Robinson Workday and Picnic
DESCRIPTION:We have a workday coming up on July 10th at Conway-Robinson State Forest.  C-R State Forest is a key link for (future) trail connection from Silver Lake to the Manassas Battlefield.   We encourage as many members as possible to participate in this event. \nThe group will be meeting at Conway Robinson State Forest\, at the intersection of University Drive and Route #29\, on July 10th from 9 a.m. to noon.  Bike and horse riders are being asked to bring their transportation and ride with clippers or loppers. Runners are also asked to plan on running to observe the condition of the trails. Volunteers will be assigned a particular trail and be asked to note on a given map anything that seriously deters their passage or pleasure. \nAny cutting to be carried out should be done with ticks in mind. As almost all trails are presently infested with ticks\, a four foot wide path\, wherever possible\, and sufficient height for horse riders to pass without brushing trees or vines is the goal of the day. \nA picnic is planned to be held in the Conway Robinson Pavilion at noon.  Attendees are asked to bring picnic food that may be shared. Iced water will be available. \nContact\nJane Hampton\noutreach@www.pwtsc.org

SUMMARY:MORE Sponsored Conway Robinson State Forest Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:The first M.O.R.E. sponsored joint volunteer group workday of the year is coming quickly! Come out to meet fellow users of the Conway Robinson Forest and make some new friends while we take care of this treasured resource. We need your help to get the trails back into good shape after this hard winter. There is strong support for the various user groups from our local Dept. of Forestry staff; let’s show a good turn-out for the volunteer days to further this relationship and support. We want to accomplish trail blazing on this first workday of 2010. All trails need minor trim and lopping of overhanging branches and general clearing of fallen limbs\, leaves\, and debris. Depending on volunteer turn out\, the trails are prioritized as follows:\nRed\nBlue 1- Section from Entrance Fire Road to the Pines Fire Road\nYellow\nUnfinished Railroad from Kemper to Yellow\nUnfinished Railroad from Kemper to Blue/Pines Fire Road\nBlue from Unfinished Railroad to Yellow \nMeet at the parking area at 9:00 a.m. Bring work gear\, sturdy shoes/boots\, gloves\, hand tools\, and enough water for a 1/2 day of light trail maintenance.\nPlease contact Vickie McEntire at vmcent@comcast.net for more details\, or to confirm your group\, family or your assistance.
