SUMMARY:Cleanup at Veterans Park & Marumsco Creek
DESCRIPTION:We will be conducting a fall cleanup at Veterans Park in Woodbridge on Saturday\, November 14\, 2015.  In conjunction with the Parks Department\, we’ve continued to do spring and fall cleanups at Veterans Park (including the Marumsco Creek wetlands) since tropical storm Lee flooded the area in September 2011 and carried a large volume of debris into wetlands.  Even without a significant flood event\, trash continues to wash into the wetlands. Come out and join us as we help to take care of our public lands.  More information will be posted later.

SUMMARY:National Public Lands Day at Doves Landing Park
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 26\, 2015 we will partner with the PWC Parks Dept and sponsor a workday at Doves Landing Park.  Join us as we extend the trail to points with scenic views of the waterway that borders the Park.  Additional projects include installing boardwalk on wet sections of the trail\, and doing some landscaping (planting) at the parking area.  If you would like to participate\, please register here.  Registration will help us to plan for the workday\, and allow us to contact you if the event is postponed due to weather.\n

SUMMARY:Lake Ridge Trail workday - September 12\, 2015
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, Sep 15\, we will conduct another workday in Lake Ridge\, to open trail section 4.  This is the section through the wooded area from Mohican Road to the existing LRPRA blacktop trail.  The new section is about 3/10ths of a mile\, and will link to the blacktop trail which then connects with Cottonmill Drive.  This section is fairly open\, under a tree canopy.  Please register for the workday here.  Registration will help us plan for the workday\, and allow us to contact you if the event is rescheduled due to weather conditions. We’ll have tools (rakes and loppers) available to use.

SUMMARY:Lake Ridge trail workday - RE-SCHEDULED -Sunday July 12\, 12:00 - 3:00 pm
DESCRIPTION:The workday has been re-scheduled for Sunday\, July 12\, 12:00 – 3:00 pm.  Come out to help open the next segment of the Lake Ridge trail. We’ll be working to make the trail connection between Hedges Run Drive and Mohican Road. There is an existing trail through the woods for much of this section\, but we need to open the end where the trail will meet Hedges Run Dr\, and more clearly delineate the trail at the end where it meets Mohican Rd.   The segment we will work on is identified as Phase III in the trail agreement between the PWC Parks Dept and the Lake Ridge Parks & Recreation Association.  This section can be opened by work that is very suitable for volunteers.  It will involve trimming along the trail\, clearing fallen branches\, and raking aside leaves.  The trail route is shown in the exhibits below.\nPlease click here to register for the event.\n For more information\, contact Neil Nelson\, email secretary@pwtsc.org

DESCRIPTION:Visit the historic Town of Occoquan\, Virginia on Saturday\, June 20\, 2015\, and participate in the 9th Annual Duck Splash Race fundraiser for the Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition. Watch hundreds of numbered rubber docks drop from a bridge at 12:00 noon and race along the town waterfront.  Buy a ticket for $5 to “adopt” a numbered duck and cheer it on.  Cash prizes are awarded for 1st through 10th place.  Tickets to adopt a duck may be purchased at participating Occoquan businesses\, on the day of the event\, or online by using the “Buy Now” button below.  If you order online you will receive your duck numbers by email within a few days of purchase.
