SUMMARY:First Day Hike on the Occoquan Greenway Trail - January 1\, 2018
DESCRIPTION:Start the new year with a hike on the Occoquan Greenway Trail.  We’ll hike the planned trail route from the Lake Ridge Association offices to the Town of Occoquan\, a distance of about 3.3 miles.  This section of the trail includes the open area along the Hooes Run section of the Occoquan Reservoir. \nMeet at the parking lot of the Lake Ridge Parks & Recreation Association\, 12350 Oakwood Drive\, Lake Ridge\, VA 22192. \nStart time is 10:00 am\, and the hike should take about two hours. \nThis is a one-way hike to the Town of Occoquan.  Please plan for your own transportation to return to the start point – with a partner\, pre-position a car in Occoquan so it is available at the end of the hike\, or have someone available to provide a ride.  PWTSC will have limited capability to provide transportation back to the start point. \nPlease click here to register.  For more information contact neil.nelson@pwtsc.org

SUMMARY:The Occoquan Greenway Trail - Ten Year Anniversary Hike!
DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by Prince William Conservation Alliance and Prince William Streams and Trails Coalition \nTen years ago we led the first hike down the Occoquan Greenway Trail from McCoart Government Center to the Town of Occoquan\, beginning a community effort to improve conditions and open the trail to the public.  Today\, about 2.4 miles of contiguous trail is available for hiking\, from Lake Ridge Park to Cotton Mill Drive. \nOn October 28\, we will hike about 7 miles\, beginning at Lake Ridge Park and ending in the Town of Occoquan about three hours later. Transportation back to your car at Lake Ridge Park is provided.   The trail surfaces include well-established natural surfaces\, cleared paths in the woods\, blacktop paths\, sidewalks along streets and fair-weather stream crossings\, which may include some steep banks. \n \nPlease dress accordingly – we recommend long pants\, sturdy hiking shoes\, a hat and long socks. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition’s 4th Annual Tour of the Towns — Tour of Prince William cycling event.  This year we return to the eastern and southern portions of Prince William County. Participants may choose from 25-mile\, 45-mile\, or 62-mile (metric century) routes that will introduce you to the wide variety that is Prince William County.  Wind through urban\, suburban\, exurban\, rural\, forested\, town\, flat\, and hilly areas.\n\nThe event will start and finish at Madigan’s Waterfront Restaurant in historic Occoquan\, VA. DESCRIPTION: Join us on Saturday\, July 23\, 2016 to do some trail maintenance on the Lake Ridge trail.  There are several areas that need attention:\n\n\ntrimming / removal of invasive autumn olive that is encroaching on the trail (on trail section 2\, along the reservoir)\n\n\ninstallation of a sign to mark the turn\, where the trail leaves the Service Authority easement (trail section 3\, Hedges Run to Mohican)\n\n\ntrail marking (blazing) on section 4 (Mohican to the blacktop trail)\n\n\nlight trimming along sections 2 and 3\n\n\nDoing some routine maintenance will make the trail more usable and enjoyable! SUMMARY:Occoquan River cleanup - Rescheduled to April 23\, 2016
DESCRIPTION:With unusually cool temperatures and a chance for rain in the forecast for April 9\, we decided to postpone the Occoquan River cleanup until Saturday\, April 23.   We hope that those who planned to participate can come out on April 23 and help to keep the Occoquan clean.   For this annual spring cleanup we’ll be working from multiple locations all along the river and reservoir.  Volunteers gather trash on shore and paddlers work from canoes and kayaks to retrieve trash from the water.  We partner with the PWC Parks Dept\, Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District\, and several homeowner’s associations for this event. \nIf you have not registered\, please click here to register!\n \nFor those of you who have already registered\, and plan to participate on April 23\, no action is necessary (there is no need to re-register for April 23).. \nIf you registered previously\, and cannot participate on April 23\, please email us at vice.president@pwtsc.org and we will remove your name from the list. \n  \nDistance between access points\nOccoquan Cleanup 2016
