In early January, the Prince William County Park Authority began work on improving the sections of trail along both sides of Broad Run between Linton Hall Road and Sudley Manor Drive. On February 17th, this work was completed leaving a revitalized multi-purpose all weather trail in place of the washed out and rutted trail that existed before.
The trail is now four feet wide throughout these sections of trail. All the bridges have been made flush with the trail surface, making the trail bicycle and stroller friendly. Stone dust has been laid along areas prone to pooling water, along the utility easement crossings, and washout areas. The result is a trail that requires less maintenance and is more accessible regardless of the weather.
The improved sections of trail can be accessed from trailheads off Sudley Manor Drive, Braemar Parkway, Braemar Trail, and Victory Lakes Trail. Currently, Victory Lakes access is facilitated by a temporary bridge that the Park Authority plans to replace with a permanent bridge this summer. Once fully completed the Broad Run Trail will stretch from Lake Manassas to the Target store off of Rt. 28.
